"40 x 40" (Laurie's 40th Birthday Fundraiser)
Donation protected
Hello friends,
It's been so fun for Ellen and me to watch the donations roll in. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for each and every one; your generosity will make so many things possible.
A new school has come across Ellen's radar and last week she made a visit to meet the teachers and assess the needs they have. It's a small school with four classrooms. Only one classroom has actual concrete blocks, the other three are dirt floors and bamboo walls. The rainy season has already begun and the lack of adequate shelter from the rain will mean the classrooms will be wet and muddy. There are no bathrooms, no useable desks, or blackboards. The teachers are amazing and energetic and the kids welcomed Ellen and her friends with signs, local flowers, and songs.
Ellen and I have determined this will be the #1 priority of my fundraising and we hope to build them new classrooms, bathrooms, and supply them with desks, shelves, blackboards, and teaching materials. Our goal is to raise $6000 to begin building at the end of March. Total cost of the the project will be $10k+.
If you have been thinking about donating, today would be a great day to do it! Any donation is helpful and makes impact.
