Franklin High School Mock Trial is Nationals bound!
For the first time in 15 years, Franklin’s varsity team took 1st place at the Washington State Mock Trial Championship, earning a spot at the National High School Mock Trial Championship. The competition takes place in Reno, Nevada in mid-May.
After 15 years of hard work, 15 years of refusing to give up, and 15 years of placing just behind private schools, we brought the right trophy home. We believed we could, and after 15 years, we finally did.
At Franklin, we do mock trial the Franklin way. Our team is made up of students from all different backgrounds – different religions, different ethnicities, different cultures. At Franklin, 92% of our students are kids of color. And all together, we are one very special community. That is the Franklin way. Watch our 2 minute video below to get a glimpse of us in action.
In a school where more than 70% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, resources are often limited, and a trip like this can be challenging to execute. Therefore, we have to raise substantial funds to help cover airfare, hotels, meals, and supplies. The total cost will be substantially more than what we are attempting to raise here, and we have a few generous offers already to underwrite part of the costs for the trip.
This is an opportunity for friends and members of the Franklin family – past, present, and future – to help us make our dream of competing at Nationals a reality.
