Help send kids (and me!) to camp!
I am sending as many VNorth youth as possible to Vineyard Camp this summer. Not all of them can afford to go, but I refuse to let this be a barrier to one of the greatest experiences a kid can have. At the same time, I'm going to summer camp too (sort of)! I have been accepted into the Duke Summer Institute this year (check it out here: http://divinity.duke.edu/summer-institute). I was awarded a partial scholarship. The remainder I have to pay is almost exactly the cost for sending our youth to camp ($240 per person), so that's how I'm thinking of it: camp for pastor!
My other main activity this summer will be publishing a book on atonement theories. How is it that the death of Jesus takes care of our sins? The church has answered this question in very different ways at various points in history. All of them have basis in Scripture and help us and all of them have limitations if taken too far. My book explains all the different theories, why we need them, what the pitfalls are, and how we might use a both/and, radical middle approach to take them together instead of as competing against each other. This book will be perfect for individual or small group study and will come with a wealth of online resources for deep study.
Everyone who donates $50 to my Summer Camp campaign will receive a signed copy of the book.
