Holyoke Summer Strings 2014

Holyoke Summer Strings 2014 is coming up and we need YOU to help make some big dreams for little people come true AGAIN!  Last Summer, BECAUSE OF YOU, your GoFundMe contributions made it possible for 55 Holyoke Children to spend the month of July learning the violin or cello, performing for their Holyoke Community weekly in our Thursday Concert Series (at a Blue Sox Baseball Game, at our local Hot Dog Hot Spot Nick's Nest, at The Wisteriahurst Museum, and at our local Farmer's Market!) as well as practicing Yoga with our local yogis at Vega Yoga (daily), expressing themselves visually with local artist Diana Waldon, and singing their heart's song with local Singer/Songwriter (and one of our beloved violin teachers) Carolyn Walker!  BECAUSE OF YOU we were able to bring these 55 children to Bang on A Can at Mass MOCA!  BECAUSE OF YOU 55 little minds went home with a month full of summer memories and BECAUSE OF YOU they want to do it again!!  

Holyoke Summer Strings wants to spend another July giving children the opportunity to learn a string instrument and experience everything we did last summer THIS SUMMER!  Remember, we are a non-profit program that is free to children in Holyoke Public Schools!  Any HPS child can sign up and each child is loaned an instrument for the month at no cost to the family.  Holyoke Summer Strings belives that art is a right of the people and an Arts Education should be possible for everyone!  BECAUSE OF YOU IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
