Help Gopher State Railway Museum save an operating Alco S4 diesel electric switcher.
Located in New Prague, MN, the mission of the Gopher State Railway museum is to educate the public through collection, restoration, operation and display of railroad equipment and artifacts.

GSRM volunteers are in the final process of acquiring an Alco S4 diesel electric locomotive from the University of Minnesota.
Approximately $30, 000 will be needed immediately to transport the locomotive from Minneapolis to New Prague, MN by heavy haul truck. The locomotive needs to be moved from the University of Minnesota's facility as soon as possible to make space for other uses of the facility.
The addition of this operating locomotive will be beneficial to GSRM by providing a second operating locomotive to its caboose train operation. A second locomotive will allow volunteers to remove the museum's current locomotive, NSP 4 from service to perform some much needed work, while still being able to provide its popular caboose rides to museum visitors.
The museum is open the first Saturday of the month, May through October and provides a short caboose ride on its 20 acre museum site. It also operates other special times including Labor Day weekend, New Prague's Dozinky Days celebration in September as well as the popular family event, "Pumpkin Express" in mid-October .
GSRM relies on the generous financial contributions of its friends, neighbors and volunteers. Please consider helping GSRM reach its $30,000 goal to save this locomotive and move it to New Prague.
