Chris Wood is currently battling cancr for the third time. Her medical expenses are growing, as well as living expenses becoming more difficult to meet because she is off work. Her friends and family are coming together to help her to raise funds to help her make the financial aspect of this battle more manageable, so her and her family can focus on her upcoming surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a long recovery process, and look forward to a possible cure.
Christina's surgery date is scheduled for June 12, 2014. It will be done with multiple surgeons at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. The location is about 5 hours from her home. She will be traveling to the hospital 4 days early to meet with 12 doctors who could all play apart in a possibly very complicated surgery. Her stay at the hospital could be anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. During this time, her husband, mother, and daughters will be taking turns staying with her. The fundraising we are doing wil not only be used to help with medical costs, but some may be needed to help with travel and lodging for her and her immediate family. They need as much help as we can give them now.
I chose this fundraising site, because I like the transparency of it. You will see exactly how much is raised. So will she. That way, everyone knows that every penny that is raised will go directly to Chris. The site does charge 5% of funds raised, as well as a 3% processing fee. Honestly, I hate to let any extra go anywhere but to Chris. But I think this will be fine because of the added convenience and security of the fundraising through this site. We will be doing a yard sale to raise funds as well, on June 13 & 14, at Joe's Service Station at 3189 E. Apple Ave. But for those who would just like to offer a flat out donation, this is a great way to do it.
Every dollar raised will help, so if $1 is all you can do, that's great! $5...even better. $100?!?! Seriously?!?! You da bomb! Let's help this family, and especially this sweet young woman, in their 3rd fight with cancer. Please share this with your family and friends as well.
