SkillsUSA Presidential Volunteer Award

My name is Zaria Carter and I am currently an upcoming Senior at Apalachee High School. This year I was nominated for the President’s Volunteer Service Award by my SkillsUSA Chapter Advisor.  I am proud to announce that I have been selected by the National SkillsUSA Office to be recognized with other civic leaders and community volunteers for this honor.  I will be representing the Apalachee SkillsUSA Chapter as well as the Georgia SkillsUSA Chapter by receiving recognition at the SkillsUSA National Competition June 23-28, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri.  This event will give me the chance to be recognized for my volunteer service at the Brad Akins Winder YMCA for my service during 2013, where I volunteered in excess of 750 hours. I will have the opportunity to meet students from around the United States at the National Competitions and interact with students from other Chapters around the United States. I really look forward to learning more about the organization, leadership and ways to benefit our community.  

In an effort to help with the costs of attending the conference, the officer team has created a SkillsUSA Scholarship Program. This program will assist me in paying for the expenses involved with national dues as well as attending the national competition. The scholarship ranges from a donation of $10.00 or greater. I would greatly appreciate your support for this opportunity.
