Hello. My name is Alison and I am trying to raise money for Stephanie Axthelm Takashima, my sister and best friend. She is a single mom raising my wonderful nephew, Ryan and is struggling to make ends meet.
Stephanie is one of the most kind-hearted people I have in my life. She is always willing to help others and will quickly be by their side if someone is in need. She is patient beyond belief, but her patience has slowly worn thin when it comes to trying to pay her medical bills.
As you may or may not know, Stephanie was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago, come this June. We are very fortunate that she has been cancer free yet, she still deals with the "after effects" of this disease on a daily basis.
During that time, she has undergone:
8 surgeries, to date (one recently on May 20th)
Chemotherapy and Radiation
Over 100 Doctor appointments
Ongoing weekly Physical and Massage Therapy for range of motion, scar tissue build-up and Lymphedema
Each one of these is a separate entity to the financial burden of breast cancer, not to mention the endless medical expenses she has for her diabetes that are necessary to keep her alive.
Yes, Stephanie does have health insurance, but it only covers a portion of the costs and she still has substantial out-of-pocket expenses to pay. Unfortunately, Stephanie's pockets are now empty! (And another contributing factor to her financial strain, was a significant pay cut in the midst of all this.)
Stephanie is a very private person when it comes to her health and/or money issues. She has never complained or asked "why me?" If you know her, you know she has never asked for anything from anyone, which is why I am doing the asking for her. If any of her family, friends and/or acquaintances could help my sister, it would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small!!
Doctors always say that elimination of stress in one's life is the key to making a person healthy and happier. Please help Stephanie move towards this goal by removing this hardship from her life and donate to her account.
