I have started this page with the hope of helping out my best friend Marissa.
After almost a year of continuous pain we found out about a month ago that Marissa was diagnosed with Stage 2 Non- Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Let me give you all a little history:
After a car accident in August of 2013, Marissa started having a lot of knee pain. Naturally thinking that this was caused from the accident, she just tried to deal with the pain the best she could (we all know she is tough and stubborn). After months and months of pain and a few visits to the Emergency Room, where she was told her knee pain was probably caused form a torn tendon, or swollen from the accident, etc., we finally got some answers.
One ER Doc finally ran an MRI and to all of our surprise a mass the size of a baseball was detected behind her knee. Once a biopsy was performed, we patiently waited (yah right) for the results and were told it was a tumor and she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Any type of news like this is hard and difficult to process. We all know Marissa is a very strong young women and she is taking this news the best she can.
The long road to recovery has just begun; she has recently started very aggressive chemotherapy, and we are all hoping that she will start feeling some relief in her knee so she can have the strength to handle the effects of the chemo treatment.
Medical Bills and expenses pile up quickly; our goal is to try to take some of the Financial burden off of Marissa so she can focus on her treatment and recovery.
