Help Save Max

Donation protected
A little over nine years ago, we made a decision that changed our lives for the better.  After a visit to AWA in Voorhees New Jersey, we decided to adopt a quiet and calm puppy.  Since then, he has been a huge part of our lives.  Like any puppy, he had his mischievous side, but he soon outgrew the puppy stage. He was quick to learn and give affection.  He has grown into the most loving and intelligent companion we could ever ask for and truly “mans best friend.”

A few weeks ago we began to notice that Max was having a difficult time going to the bathroom.  At first we assumed it had to do with aging, but we took him to the vet for a check up just to be sure. We were surprised to discover that Max is yet another victim of Cancer.  Max was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer which is spreading further within his body. Luckily, there are treatments available to Max that can significantly help his prognosis.  Max is currently on a regimen of Anti-Inflammatory medication which has helped him for the time being.  In the long run, Max will need radiation to help reduce the cancer and Chemotherapy to help further treat the cancer.  Lastly, it is possible that Max may need a stent put in to help him urinate as the cancer continues to squeeze his urethra.  In addition to this, his vet recommends monthly Ultrasounds to make sure his kidneys, bladder, and other organs are still functioning well.

We want to give Max the gift of a longer life and the opportunity to enjoy the final months of his time here with us.  As you know, the cost of treating cancer is a massive burden on any family, and the lack of any type of insurance coverage for pets means that the cost of these treatments fall on us.  Some estimates to keep Max alive have reached as high as $20,000.  This is why we are reaching out to you, our family and friends, to ask for your help in dealing with this cost.

Max will need regular visits to the doctor and monthly Ultrasounds, which will cost around $600-$900/month.  He will need to be prepared for the Stent surgery if his urethra gets blocked, which is quoted around $5,000.  Radiation is expected to cost around $6,000 and Chemotherapy will cost around $2,000.

Anyone who has met Max and his parents, Ashley and Mike, know the love that exists between the three of them.  Max was even their ring bearer at their wedding in August, just a few weeks before he was diagnosed with this disease.

Please, give with your heart and give this wonderful boy a chance at being around us a while longer.  We love this boy more than anything in life.  Losing him will change our lives forever.  Having him with us a bit longer will enhance all of our lives.  We are grateful to everyone that took the time to read Maxie's story and donate!

Over the next few months we will also be completing Max’s Bucket List.  Please follow “Maxies_Bucket_List” on Instagram to keep up to date on Max’s condition and what we are doing to make his final days some of his best days.

Thank you for helping Max share his love a little longer.
