Support Dave Williams' fight against Glioblastoma!
Donation protected
My good friend Dave Williams was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme, a highly aggressive brain tumour with a poor prognosis.
ABOUT DAVE
Dave and his wife Victoria have two very young children, and the family have obviously been utterly devastated by this diagnosis. He has worked for the NHS for the majority of his life, caring for and supporting other, and now its time for us to give something back to him.
He bravely underwent brain surgery on 25th September and despite suffering a stroke during the operation, his mobility is improving every day.
The sad reality is that Dave's fight is only just beginning. He has recently finished 6 weeks of intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy to prevent the tumour spreading rapidly.
VIDEOS OF SUPPORT ❤
Dave has had videos of support from Ex Welsh Rugby Captain Ryan Jones, Wales' most capped winger Shane Williams and from Matt Pritchard, Welsh professional skateboarder, stunt performer (Dirty Sanchez) and celebrity chef. Pro surfer, Koa Smith, also sent Dave 'aloha' and support all the way from Hawaii.
THE COSTS
To give him the best possible chance against this cancer he needed to travel to London every week, to take part in a Clinical Trial. Following some recent blood tests, Dave had the heartbreaking news that that this trial is no longer an option. This is devastating news and means exploring other trials and treatment options. They are currently looking at a promising trial for immunotherapy up in Scotland, again this will cost Dave and his family.
In addition, there may be the option to travel to Germany for further experimental treatment, not yet funded by the NHS, which means treatment costs in the region of £250,000 out of their own pockets.
MY CHALLENGES
I will be taking part in a number of solo fundraisers and challenges for the foreseeable, all of which are focused solely on raising as much awareness and money as I possibly can for this absolute gent & his family. So far I will be doing the following;
11th December 2021. "100K around the Bay". Run into 5 Mike loops around Cardiff Bay until I hit 100k or just over 62 miles.
✅11th December 2020; The "4X4X48" where I ran 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours (inspired by retired Navy Seal and ultrarunner David Goggins who has inspired me since day 1) to test my limits not only physically but mentally.
✅Marathon, 26.2 miles - 13th March, in and around Cardiff in line with guidelines (I'll be doing it solo)
> 106km/66mile ultramarathon from Cardiff to Clyro. (originally cancelled due to catching Covid). 2022, date TBC.

> TBC; "Everesting" South Wales' highest peak, Pen Y Fan. This will involve me completing repeats, up and down (although down doesn't count) of the mountain continuously until i climb 8,848m/29,029 feet – the equivalent height of Mt Everest. Exact amount of times pending.

⭐ PLEASE HELP ⭐
Join me and please help. This really is a huge challeneg for my friend and his family and we have to fight this together.
Any donations would really make a huge difference for Dave and his family at such a horrendous time, so please, lets help raise as much as we can so that he can access the treatment he desperately needs.
