Earthquake Relief for NEPAL

Donation protected
Neena Gurung, Jyotsna Dhakal, Nischal Neupane, and I (Kisha Pradhan) have created this gofundme account in order to help our people back home in the best way we can.

A massive 7.8 Richter scale earthquake hit Nepal on April 25, 2015. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the death count has reached 5,057, injured- 10,1915 , and internally displaced 454,769. Many remote villages outside of Kathmandu have not been searched entirely and very less rescue efforts have been made.

Millions of people are affected and the government has declared a state of emergency in the affected areas. People have lost shelters, food, and their loved ones. Hospitals are inundated with the victims and there is shortage of medical supplies.

Update: In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, Nepal has been getting overwhelming support. Kathmandu has received attention, but remote areas hit hard by the earthquake have not, one of the reasons being their inaccessibility. There is still an immediate need of search and rescue, food items, clean water, blankets and tarps, and basic medical supplies in these areas.

When the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit, Nischal Neupane, a friend of ours from Kathmandu happened to be traveling in the Gorkha district, which is 100 kilometers north-west of Kathmandu, and was the epicenter of the earthquake. Nischal gave us a first hand account of how dire the need of relief efforts and aid is in the remote villages. He is gathering volunteers to head up to the quake-hit remote villages with supplies and medication. In our attempt to avoid organizations with enormous overhead, administrative costs or where supplies and aid might get lost in translation, we have decided to direct our funds towards Nischal and his group's efforts to bring aid to the villages where it is needed the most.

The links below provide more detail on how aid is struggling to reach quake-hit remote villages:
