A Granite Bench for LS from class of 78'

We are pleased to announce the kickoff of an exciting fundraising campaign aimed at the purchase and installation of a solid granite bench as a “giving back” gift from our class of 1978 to LSRHS. Our plan is to purchase a kidney shaped custom sized granite bench exactly 78 inches long, with a smooth polished top and 2“ engraving on the front side reading “Gift from the LS Class of 1978”. The bench will permanently reside in the area known today as the pickup/drop off point, which is the only remaining component of the old school structure as we knew it while we attended LS. This was the concrete walk way and sitting area just before the main entrance to the old building. The area currently features a functioning pay phone!

The cost of the bench is approximately $2,200. Please see attached photos to get a better idea of the design and location. The bench shown in the photo is 4 feet long. The style we are proposing will be 6 ½ feet long and will weigh approximately 1 ton, with 23” and 17” round legs. We also plan to purchase a flowering tree to grow in close proximately to the bench, the planting of which can be timed to occur during the next reunion event in 2016.

The planning team is hoping for your generosity in raising the necessary funds. No contribution is too small, as our goal is to encourage as much class participation and involvement as possible. The LS school administration is 100% behind the success of the project and has established a separate account to place donations while they accrue.
