An ill, yet strong mom, needs a miracle

Spende geschützt
An ill, yet strong mom, who needs a miracle.

These few words are only a small description of my very dear friend, Sindi Jackson. Sindi is so much more than this, MUCH MORE.

Sindi, is a single young Mom of two amazing kids, Dylan(14) and Austin(10), to describe these two young men as amazing is an understatement. Dylan and Austin have had to learn to grow up fast far too young, yet, they have taken on this task with diligence and maturity without question.

Sindi is a single mom who has always been an independent, hard working, provider for her and her children. Then 2 years ago, in 2012,tragedy struck Sindi, Dylan, and Austin, Sindi became gravely ill, and was rushed to the hospital. When Sindi arrived at the hospital, the situation turned grim, Sindi's colon and intestines were dead(for lack of better terms) and had been spilling toxins into her body, her intestines and colon were literally killing her.

The doctors at the hospital had informed family to expect and prepare for the worse, they did not think Sindi was going to make it through the night, but they were going to do everything possible to save her, which included complete and total removal of her intestines and colon. Against all odds, Sindi miraculously made it through, she spent 2 and half months in the hospital, primarily in a coma, and had numerous surgeries following the removal of her intestines and colon. Sindi's body has several warrior/battle scars from the 2 and a half month stay in the hospital, and since then, she has battled for her life, and has to face more surgeries. She has also been back and forth to the hospital for numerous infections due to the loss of her colon and intestines. Her body is fighting everyday to survive, but has been greatly weakened because her body does not absorb nutrients necessary through food alone.  Sindi truly is a warrior with battle wounds and beat all odds against her.

During Sindi's stay in the hospital, her two amazing kids stayed with family and friends. Not a day went by that those two special boys stayed strong for their Mom, but they also grieved privately. They did not want their Mom to see them saddened when she was awake from her coma, they wanted to show her they were strong and made it a joyous occasion for her.

Over the last two years life has thrown many obstacles their way, since Sindi is unable to work due to her illness and the many health issues it has left her with, the family has barely been surviving off the little amount she receives through social security disability and small amount of child support.

Last week, Sindi received a 30 day notice of foreclosure, she has 30 days to vacate the property. Since Sindi became ill and lost her income, she has tried to do everything in her power to keep the only home her boy's know, the only home they grew up in, but she has lost the fight, and has less then 30 days to move without the means to afford the cost of moving.  Sindi, herself, cannot physically go through the moving process, her body has been greatly weakened due to her illnesses, she has lost a concerning amount of weight, and most days it is hard for her to even get out of bed. Just before Sindi got the 30 day notice from the mortgage company, Sindi, and her two boys became very ill, all three of them have developed pneumonia. Sindi's doctors are urging Sindi to have another surgery as quickly as possible, but due to the foreclosure, Sindi is holding back because she does not know what is going to happen. Sindi absolutely has to have this surgery, but she is unsure of what is going to happen over the next 25 days, and needs to secure a place for her to recover in and a safe place for her children. Even purchasing small amounts of groceries to provide for her and her children is a very difficult task, as they have to decide between paying for electricity, water, heat or food.

Dylan and Austin love their Mom with every fiber of their being, and Sindi the same with her children. Any time Sindi has enough physical strength and has a good day(few and far between), she spends all that energy on her children, trying to take their minds off the situation they are facing. She tries to make it as positive as possible for them, even though she is crumbling inside.

We are hoping to be able to raise enough money to pay for the move-in cost to an apartment(a ground floor apartment, as it is very difficult, if not impossible for Sindi to climb stairs), and hopefully, a few months rent, food, utility bills, and medical cost for co-pays, medicine, etc... We would also greatly appreciate it if anyone can donate time from a moving company to help move her and her family.

I know that $10,000 as a goal may seem like a lot, but in reality, it is not. Move-in cost, even into an apartment, cost anywhere from $2,000 - $3,000, the average monthly cost for rent(even an apartment) is $900 - $1000(at least). All apartments are now charging for utilities...garbage and water, and then you have the cost of phone, electricity, and heat(if natural gas),which is increasing, along with the cost of food and medicine. We are hoping to keep Sindi and her children in the same area, so her children can continue to attend the same schools they have grown up in.  Even if we cannot reach the goal, we are grateful for any donation amount. Any amount will significantly help them.

There are not enough good words in the English language to describe Sindi or her two boys, Her children have grown up very fast over these last two years, and have taken on many adult responsibilities, they have even sold some of their own belongings to help pay for necessities, but they did it with courage and maturity. Everyday, my heart breaks, I love Sindi, Dylan, and Austin more than I could ever put into words, and so do their family and friends. We will continue to update their situation, and hopefully through donations, we can truly change this family's life. If we are able to raise enough money to help, I will post pictures of how your help saved this incredible family.

I cannot tell you how grateful we are that you have taken the time to read Sindi's story. Sindi and her two children will be immensely grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small it may be. You have directly played a part in changing this amazing family's life and have given them hope, and for that, there are no words to describe how amazing of a person you are.

I want to personally thank all of you for your generosity, caring, and compassion. You directly make this world a better place to live.

Sincerely,

Wendy
