Baby Asher, son and first born child of Christopher & Hannah Wood, was born on Friday, May 23rd at 1:29 a.m. via an emergency C-section after 30 hours of labor. Fluid in the amniotic sac was extremely low, so labor had to be induced. Asher’s heartbeat then dropped dangerously 3 times in the last several hours, so the doctors worked quickly and had him out within 15 minutes. Unfortunately, there was meconium in the little amount of remaining amniotic fluid, and baby Asher had aspirated a very large amount of it into his lungs during labor. When he was born he could barely breathe, causing serious complications.

2 days later, on Sunday, May 25th, the most heart-rending moment for any parent happened, and their sweet Baby Asher went home to be with Jesus. Even more tragic was that, because of everything he was hooked up to and the special type of cooling bed he had to stay on, Chris and Hannah were never able to hold their sweet baby boy before he passed away.

Chris and Hannah did not have life insurance or savings to cover the cost of a funeral, much less all of the medical expenses not covered by health insurance. Asher was loved so much by his family. So many people want to be able to do something for Chris and Hannah, and I think it would be wonderful to help them out in a small way in their hour of need.

The following is a Facebook message posted by Chris & Hannah on Sunday, May 25th:
Our sweet little baby boy Asher passed away today at 1:50 PM. The doctor taking care of him said that his heart probably gave up since his lungs were not healing fast enough.

We would just like to thank everyone for your prayers, love and support these past few days. We thank God for the time we did have with him, and he was such a blessing to us. We know we will see him again.
