I am not one that usually asks for help, but right now I am. In Aug of 2024, we took in a spunky, sweet puppy, realizing right away she was sick. After several emergency visits and vet visits, we found out she has megaesophagus. ME is a disease that causes her esophagus to enlarge and loses its ability to move food down. Which prevents nutrients from being pushed down into her stomach. In order to help with water & food, we have to feed her while sitting up. Her water intake can only be by ice chunks, knox blocks or thick it, which she also has to be sitting up for. Over the last several months, we have been able to maintain this disease by feeding her ground up kibble mixed with can food multiple times a day while sitting up.
On Thursday, January 16th, she became ill. Our vet didn't think it was that bad and thought she'd be fine. Friday evening, we had to rush her to the ER veterinary clinic in Stl. Where we found out she has aspiration pneumonia. She seemed to start doing better after 6 hours in an oxygen box and IV antibiotics. We took her home Sat morning, just to turn around and have to take her back at midnight. She has been at the VSS emergency vet's office getting oxygen, liquids and antibiotics. They also had to do a tube through her nose to suction out fluids.
VSS wants to send her to Mizzou University for further testing to see what else we can do. Mizzou will be conducting a swallow test to see what our next steps are to helping her heal.
Luna is only 7 months old, but without these life saving procedures she won't get to live the long life she deserves. That's why we are reaching out for help.
Please help us save her. We made a promise to her the first time we found out about her disease that we would do everything in our power to save her.
Everyone of her doctors she has dealt with these last few months brag about how much of a sweetheart she is.
Thank you for everything ❤️
