When Chris and Megan learned at the beginning of June that they were expecting a baby, they  were over the moon!  Their oldest daughter, Olivia, had literally been praying and asking for another sibling and one of Jocelyn's first words was "BABY!!"

The baby was due February 20, 2018, but right from the start they experienced many challenges. Early in the first trimester, Megan experienced a subchorionic hematoma (SCH) which threatened the pregnancy. Multiple trips to the Emergency Room and a brief hospitalization led to a recommendation of modified bed rest to heal.  At 18 weeks, the hematoma had disappeared, but during the anatomy scan ultrasound the doctors reported that Megan's water had broken and there was barely any amniotic fluid in the womb. Amniotic fluid is necessary for the baby to grow and develop their lungs.

Since the anatomy scan, all of the doctors they saw said that the situation could, "go either way."  Megan and Chris were determined to do everything possible to give their baby the best chance for survival.  Megan and Baby were admitted to the Washington Hospital Center on October 29th for round-the-clock care and monitoring.

Baby boy Nathan Francis Grosso had a warrior spirit and made it to 28 weeks, 6 days before his birth on December 4th.  He weighed 2 pounds, 3.4 ounces and was 15.5 inches long.  Due to his immature lungs, Nathan was only able to  survive for a little over 2 hours. During that precious time, he met his parents and sisters, Olivia and Jocelyn, as well as his grandparents and his aunt. He greeted everyone with eyes wide open, arms outstretched, and he held onto the fingers and hands of his family before he passed peacefully. As Chris and Megan said, “all he knew in life was love.”

The Grosso family is grieving the loss of their baby boy.  Your contribution will help provide much needed comfort to them.

While Chris and Megan have medical insurance, it will not cover all their costs for their extended hospital stay and care they've received throughout the pregnancy.  Nothing will bring baby Nathan back and the lingering costs are a significant, further burden. Therefore, we have set up this GoFundMe site to assist them with their overwhelming expenses. Can you please help Megan and Chris through this unimaginable time?
