On April 4, 2010, my family and I endured the loss of my second sister's only daughter, Nia Haqq and her fiancee to be, Michael Muchoki, to a senseless carjacking/killing spree in Jercey City.
My oldest sister, for whom this fundraiser is for, did what most big sisters would do and stood by her younger sister months after we buried our niece. The photo above was the date which my niece and nephew were going to be married in Aruba. So, the three of us chose to honor them with a ceremony on the beach. During this time period, my oldest sister had to use the majority of her financial savings to assist in supporting our sister. She stayed with my sister on the right in the picture above for almost a year, going on doctor visits, packing from the old apartment, moving things into storage, and simply being there during those rough nights my sister went through.
Well, in the fall of 2012 my oldest sister, three days after being laid off from work, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Since then, she has had four cycles of chemo therapy, two cycles of radiation, three major surgeries, and has more to go. She has been denied Social Security for reasons unknown to her and us; she doesn't qualify for welfare, because she's not a senior and has no dependents. She has no income at all, but still has to pay for her mortgage, which the bank is attempting to foreclose on her.
While all these major bills are still requiring payment, she is not employed and has no money to pay them. This includes owing her physicians money that her medical insurance won't pay and that amount is well over $200,000.00. It has gotten so bad that some doctors are refusing service to her because of her inability to pay.
I don't wish to continue speaking about it, because quite honestly, it can be very upsetting and depressing.
We have found a facility that will treat my sister and we are hoping you can help us to fund it. The facility will cost $15,000.00 for a minimum two week stay. This fee includes round trip airfare, ground transportation, tests, tourist Visa and medications.
We are asking you to donate any amount you can to help send her to this facility. Of course ALL donations are greatly appreciated. We are also asking that you share this link with as many friends or groups that you can, or even posting the link on your own page.
