Help bring Ms. Tastee Freez to life!

Dear Friends and Family,

Did you know Los Angeles County is home to the highest number of residents living in poverty in the US and the second highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS?  It is estimated that more than 10,500 people living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County are homeless or unstably housed.

Alliance for Housing and Healing is dedicated to providing the basic necessities of life to men, women, children, and families living with HIV/AIDS through a safety net of essential housing and direct supportive services. As AHH's main fundraiser, the Best in Drag Show plays a significant role in AHH's ability to offer their life-saving assistance throughout the community.

The Best in Drag Show is produced every year by a cast of extraordinary talented volunteers. This year, I am honored to be a contestant representing the coolest state in the country - Alaska. As Ms. Alaska, Tastee Freez is cold, she's cool, and she cannot wait to get on stage to put on an amazing show and raise loads of cash for a great cause. Without ruining the surprise, let's just say Tastee has an amazing ability to change the climate wherever she goes.

But I do need your help. As a general rule of the Best in Drag Show, I am not allowed to fundraise. But I am allowed to ask friends and family if they would be willing to help me bring Ms. Tastee Freez to life. Putting on an amazing show requires multiple outfits, hair styles, and a lot of rehearsal time. Below is just a basic list of what is involved in bringing to life Ms. Tastee Freez:

1 Utahn willing to take on this challenge - $0
2 individuals constructing Tastee's jewelry - $200
3 wigs and pairs of heels - $600
4 different costume changes - $1,000
5 stage set pieces - $250
20 hours of rehearsal space rental - $600
Loads of glitter, rhinestones, and all things sparkly - $250
An army of volunteers helping to construct Tastee - $0

The goal for every contestant at the Best in Drag Show is to put on an over-the-top, amazing show that gets people to open their check books and come back every year. I am documenting every purchase I make. Any remaining funds will be given directly to the Alliance for Housing the night of the event.

Any assistance you can provide is sincerely appreciated. You have my commitment to do my best to give the Best in Drag Show audience a show they have never seen before. I completely understand if you are not in a position to donate financially, but I highly suggest you come to the actual event on Sunday, October 5th.  I promise you, the Best in Drag Show is one of the best nights you'll ever have in Los Angeles!
