Medical and Funeral Costs

Dear Friends and Family,
The past year has not only been hard because of what Mom went through, it's also been hard financially. Obviously, with what Mom went through, she couldn't work. Although my earnings weren't vast while trying to finish my degree, we lost that as well when I had to start caring for Mom 24/7. Every moment of this journey was precious, though, and I don't regret one moment. Thankfully, our uncles have been as supportive as possible to help us through.
But now we're faced with a reality that we need to hit head on, and I'm asking for help if you can at all find it possible. In addition to the expenses that have already mounted from Mom's ordeal, Rob and I need to plan for funeral services; we just don't have the funding to face this alone. We are following Mom's wishes and having her cremated, and blessedly the funeral home will work with us on payments. But then I need to take her to Long Island for services so that all of our family and friends can say goodbye to this unbelievable woman, our Mom.
The "Go Fund Me" site allows people that are in serious financial straits to receive help from those who care. No matter the amount you can spare, Rob and I will be forever grateful. This site handles the collection of monies and processing of credit/debit cards, and takes a minimal administrative fee for those services; approximately 93.5 cents of every dollar will come to Rob and I to help pay expenses. This is not a charity and cannot be claimed as a charitable expense on a tax return, it is classified as a gift. We don't want to get into the technical issues, but we do want everyone to understand what happens if you can assist us.
This is not something we want to do, it is something that we need to do. We hope that you don't think any less of us, but we believe that anyone who loved our mother will understand.
