I am reaching out to friends, family, and anyone that can help a dear friend of mine, Latrice Reed and her family. Latrice is too proud, strong and resilient of a person to ask for help. So I'm going to do it for her. A little back story on Latrice and her family, her husband Terry was diagnosed with an incurable cancer, Multiple Myeloma which is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cells called a plasma cell. MM causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow where they crowd out the healthy blood cells. Terry was diagnosed over 6 yrs ago and has been aggressively fighting this disease. Terry is a veteran of the United States Navy and has been getting treatment through the VA, which means over the last 6 years he's been traveling to Nashville and Vanderbilt hospital. This has taken not just an emotional toll on their family but a major financial situation. I am not sure how much the VA covers and I do not want to pry, but I do know that they do not cover travel expenses, etc.
Latrice and Terry have 3 beautiful children, Terry Jr, Zoi, and Xea. Xea being the youngest at 4. While the other two are older and in high school they are helping mom with household chores etc.
Over the last few months Terry has been fighting very hard, but the cancer is continuing to spread and break him down. Recently he was life flighted to Vanderbilt because of an infection in his gallbladder. Which after an extensive four hour surgery it was removed. This past Friday night Terry took a turn for the worse and was put on life support. Latrice is doing everything she can to be by his side, while still being the great mother she is to their 3 children. Terry is still somewhat responsive and doctors are hopeful that the ventilator can be removed. We are all praying for a miracle, for Latrice and her family.
With this I hope that anyone that can help will help. Any amount will be going towards travel expenses, food, household expenses, groceries, etc. We hope that this will help ease the stress for Latrice as she is not able to work as much or at all.
