In the early hours of Saturday August 19, 2017 in Hamilton, Ontario, Maddy was walking home, when she was hit by a car from behind. The car side-swiped a pick-up truck, jumped the curb and hit Maddy at full speed and then drove away leaving her there. The coward has yet to turn himself in.
Maddy has a broken femur, broken hips, broken pelvis, broken ribs, a couple of pieces broke off her vertebrae (she will walk and they will heal), a tear in her spleen and liver, stitches, lots of bruises and cuts, etc. She has had surgery to place a rod in her leg to repair the femur and may require additional surgeries. She is going to have a long road of recovery ahead of her. She remains in the ICU and will not be able to leave the hospital until she can walk and do stairs.
Maddy recently moved to Hamilton and will not be returning to work for the foreseeable future. She does not have benefits through her employment and will be incurring significant medical, rehabilitation and attendant care expenses when she leaves the hospital. All contributions will be provided to Maddy and her fiancé for her treatments and to assist in paying for any of their expenses while she remains off of work and recovers.
The family appreciates any and all donations as well as information leading to the person responsible. If you can't donate money, your prayers and well wishes are also welcomed.
