John Njuguna Heart Surgery Fund Raiser

Our father is an American Citizen living abroad in Kenya. He suffered an acute heart attack and was hospitalized immediately. Unfortunately, Medicare will not cover any amount of it as it is In a foreign country. He is retired and has no other insurance and must pay the out of pocket cost upfront. Kenyan medical care requires payment first before they initiate any procedure. The Njuguna family would like to ask for financial assistance to help cover our Dad's hospital costs to avoid denial of life saving medical service in Kenya due to insufficient funds. Our goal is to prevent my Dad from having another heart attack and to bring him home to the US so that he can heal and live a long happy life with his Grandchildren and family who love him very much. On September 2nd our father John Njuguna had a heart attack while overseas in Nakuru, Kenya. Our Mom gave him aspirin and quickly rushed him to the hospital hoping for the best. Upon arrival to the hospital, my Dad, who was in extreme pain, did not receive timely emergency care because the mandatory payment was not provided. My family paid the sum of $2,000 US dollars up front, and the care he needed to keep him alive was finally provided. The doctors informed us that our Dad had suffered a major heart attack and the care he received broke down the clots, stabilized him, and ultimately saved his life. At this point, an angiogram is required to be performed to assess the damage to his heart and to determine the next procedures/treatments that will have to be done. The Dr. is hopeful that once the state of Dad's coronary arteries is diagnosed and treatment is applied they can effectively prevent reoccurrence. Dad will have to make a 4 hour trip to Nairobi via an intensive care ambulance for the life saving procedure. This procedure will be a significant cost to him and his family. The Njuguna family would like to ask for financial assistance to cover the hospital costs to help avoid denial of medical service due to insufficient funds. Thank you!
