FLORO A. MAYO
October 26th, 1942 – July 15th, 2020

The world lost a truly wonderful man.  Dad was a loving father, husband, brother, uncle, “Manong,” “Ninong,” and “Lolo.”  He was a U.S. Army veteran, who served in the Vietnam War under the 1st Infantry Division (“Big Red One”), and was a Purple Heart recipient, amongst other military honors and awards he received as a soldier.  He was 77.

Dad defined unconditional love, and he positively impacted everyone who had the opportunity to make his acquaintance.  Dad was always in good spirits, and his energy was contagious.  His warmth and presence were truly one-of-a-kind.  He was loved and adored by everyone.

Dad passed away on Wednesday evening, July 15th, 2020.  As many of you already knew, he suffered a catastrophic stroke on February 21st, 2020, and had been in the hospital ever since.  He most recently acquired an infection in his bloodstream, specifically Candida auris (C. auris), a strain resistant to most available medication.  Dad put up a valiant fight throughout his hospital stay, but eventually succumbed to the infection.  While we are all heartbroken by his loss, we are comforted in the fact that he is finally free from the hospital, and can now finally rest in peace.

Since his hospitalization in February, there has been an overwhelming outpouring of love and support for Dad.  Many of you had inquired about a GoFundMe account to assist him during his hospital stay.  Now, with his recent passing, this account has since been created, and will serve to defray all medical/hospitalization and funeral costs incurred.

We thank you all for your continued support for Dad.  He will be sorely missed.  Dad…we love you.  God bless you.  Thank you for all you have done for us, for everyone.  May you rest in eternal peace.

Thank you.
