Accessible School Playground

Help us build our accessible playground

Playing at recess and after school is an important part of going to school. Kids learn lifeskills by interacting with their peers in an unstructured environment. But what happens if there are barriers to that interaction? What if some kids are not able to participate in the fun, because of physical or other limitations? As parents of Norma Rose Point School, we aim to take away those barriers. Every kid deserves to play!

Norma Rose Point School is a new k-8 school in Vancouver. We will have a beautiful new school building in September. But unfortunately, the government in BC does not provide funding for school playgrounds. That responsibility, falls to the parents.

Like parents at any other school in BC, we have been working hard to design and fundraise for an amazing playground. The costs for rubberized surfacing, which is needed to make the playground accessible, accounts for almost half of our costs! Of the $200,000.- needed for our playground, we have raised $160,000.-. Please help us reach our goal, so every kid can play when our new school building opens in September!
