We are reaching out to you in hopes that you can help us raise money to benefit our dear friend Joe Forrest.
This is Joe. He suffered devastating injuries on March 8th.

Joe is an insanely talented, badass snowboarder. Check out that sweet bumper board on which he got 2nd place at the 2010 Masters of Snowboarding comp, beating a bunch of big name pros. (He'll never brag let alone talk about it though. When the subject comes up, he just brushes it off and changes the topic.)
But Joe is more than just your average shredder or local legend.
He's a true friend, a rambunctious party animal with a contagious laugh, and most important of all, a wonderful, adventurous, humble, pure human being. He's all heart.
He's been living at Kirkwood, CA, in his element, for the past 14 years, knows the mountain like the back of his hand, and all this time he's been sharing his knowledge and passion about snowboarding, guiding and mentoring younger shredders around the mountain, showing them all the lines and secret spots, just stoking people out.
On March 8th, while taking a small group of us on a mission to seek out those pow stashes that only he would know about and be able to find, Joe's life changed.
We didn't see it, we just heard the screams.
To this day he's not entirely sure how it happened. He has replayed it in his head a thousand times. Somehow, he misjudged where he was, and launched it from a cat track about 30 feet in the air straight to a hard, uphill landing, completely shattering his tibial plateau and blowing his knee. When we got to him, his front leg was literally dangling.
This is what Joe looks like now. Apologies if you're squeamish.

Ice cream, Morphine & Dilaudid. Breakfast of Champions.
The good news is he's a strong, stubborn dude. The not so good is that while he's had one surgery to stabilize the leg, he's going to need 3 or 4 more to fix the devastating injuries that he suffered. He also lost his job doing snow-removal at Kirkwood and consequently his company provided housing.
He's got a long, tough road ahead of him, but he'll bounce back from this.
We, a small group of friends, are the only family he's got, and we're going to do everything we can to support him and help him pay a pretty hefty medical bill as well as hopefully cover some of his living expenses.
We're holding a benefit on April 15th at the South Lake Tahoe American Legion Post. We'll have DJ's, bands and an awesome raffle.
We'd love to see you come out to the benefit, but if you can't, you can help Joe by donating money to this page.
On behalf of a small group of friends, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
Federico Tezzon
