Dear family and friends,
I have the passion for education but not the funds.
Teaching has always excited me, and I became interested in education as a career in my second year of college in Japan at Tokyo Christian University. After a process of reflection about my learning experiences in both my home country Uganda and in Japan, I decided that I wanted to be an educator - a good educator.
I realized that education is crucial in any society. For a child in a developing country, education may be the pathway out of poverty. For one in a developed country, it may be the source of zest for life. I want to be an educator who understands the societal and economic forces affecting educational systems so as to develop creative and effective teaching methods.
To this end, I applied to and was accepted at Wheaton College for an MA in Intercultural Studies/TESOL. It would be a dream come true to study at the highly acclaimed Wheaton College, but to take this next step comes at a high price: I would need $63,297 to complete the 2-year program. The university has offered me two significant scholarships to help towards paying my tuition, but I still do not have enough money to cover all the expenses.
I need to raise $51,984. I am asking all you friends, family, and well-wishers for your support. No donation is too small, and all will go directly towards my expenses. Note that your donations will be processed through the US bank account of my dear friend Cana Short.
