Mya Briones (World Scholars Cup)

Dear Friends, Family, Community, et al...
We are excited to announce that our daughter, Mya Briones, competed in the World Scholars Cup Competition - Houston Round this past Saturday. This is the first year her school, Roberson Middle School, has entered the competition. The competition consisted of students from all over the US, including GT Academies and Private Schools, consisting mainly of 8th graders (Mya is a 6th grader in a public school!). Mya did extremely well and was part of a team that brought home 97 medals, recognitions and trophies! The top teams were invited to Singapore for the Final "Global Round" June 24-27, 2014.
Why the campaign? With short notice, the school and district have not been able to get funding for all the students to attend the competition in Singapore. And, we too cannot afford the expense at this time.
Mya is such an amazing girl, and she truly is one of our future leaders and scholars. This is an amazing accomplishment for her and the school.
The funds raised will be used to get Mya and a chaperone to Singapore which will include; airfare, hotel, and registration. If there are any excess funds we will use them to assist other team members trying to make the trip as well.
We are asking our family, friends and community to help us bring recognition to the Smart, Talented, and Deserving students who will be our future leaders and scholars! Any amount of donation will certainly get us to our goal. Also, if you know of any businesses that would assist, please, share...
