Bolivia Mission Trip

Logan and I will be traveling to Bolivia with Monterey Church and Compassion International in late July. I was fortunate to fill a last minute opening on the last mission trip to Africa. That experience that has changed my life and opened my eyes to the overwhelming poverty in many parts of the world. It was a privelege to witness, first hand, the amazing work that Compassion does to fight this battle, through monthly sponsorship of indivudual children and other special projects. It's very exciting to imagine how God will speak to Logan's heart and how this time will impact the rest of his life.
Compassion has been working with Bolivia since 1975. Currently, more than 62,100 children participate in 204 child development centers but there are countless thousands more who will likely die of starvation or disease without our help. During our trip we will be sharing the gospel and forming partnerships with local churches to help provide the children of Bolivia the opportunity to rise above their circumstances by providing food, medical care, and education so that they can become all that God has created them to be.
Bolivia is South America's poorest country. In the countryside, poverty is widespread and deeply entrenched, particularly among the nation's indigenous people, who constitute the majority. About 60% of Bolivians live below the national poverty line. The percentage is higher in rural areas, where three out of four people live in poverty. Indigenous communities, women and young people are particularly vulnerable to poverty and food insecurity.
Malnutrition is crippling Bolivia, with close to five million citizens unable to fulfill even the most basic requirements. Malnutrition poses the greatest risk to pregnant women and young children, and in Bolivia, it is these groups that malnutrition unfortunately hits the hardest.
Fortunately, through child survival programs and child development centers thousands of these precious children are being fed, educated, given essential medical care, and the opportunity to learn about Jesus and discover how to develop a lifelong relationship with God.
