Computer Camp for an Amazing Boy

Donation protected
I'm asking for assistance to send our son to computer camp this summer at MIT.  For those that don't know his story, Jason started out with so many obstacles, and it seemed those obstacles just kept mounting the first few years of his life. This is a kid who I was told would have little to no hope of a meaningful future, and who spent more time in and out of hospitals and specialists offices than he did anywhere else really. We were on a first name basis with the entire staff of the Baystate ER. We then went through quite a few years of intensive interventional therapies (as in 50-60+ hours per week, in our home, at school, everywhere). He finally began communicating verbally and consistently around 1st grade or so. He continued to struggle and failed every class, every year; but the schools just pushed him into the next grade because they never planned on him graduating anyway, just a certificate of completion, do his time and get him out of their class. All of this struggle with a constant smile on my boy's face. He began to show small signs of progress, and thankfully we were blessed to find some amazing teachers along the way who believed in Jason. Just a few short years ago, I don't know what happened, but something clicked in this boy's brain and he not only began passing classes but excelling. He has now been mostly seizure free for over two years and is a straight A, honor role student who dreams of attending MIT.  We could not be more proud of our son and his amazing way of overcoming all of the roadblocks along the way - this kid inspires us every single day.   He has never let his autism diagnosis dictate what he is capable of; he just works very hard every single day to have the life that he wants.

Unfortunately, while we have a decent income, we also have a large stack of old medical bills and my student loan debt.  Jason dreams of attending the ID Tech, 2 week computer camp program at MIT, but the cost for the program is beyond our means.  The program costs $4,500 for 2 weeks (including a certificate of completion for inclusion with college applications), and we can afford between $1,500-$2,000 at most.  It was suggested that we may be able to fundraise through this portal, and while I feel badly asking for money from anyone, I will swallow my pride for my son to have a chance at this amazing opportunity.  He has certainly earned it in my opinion - and I truly wish we could provide it for him on our own, but circumstances don't allow for that at this time.  I would be so grateful for any assistance anyone is willing to provide; and regardless, thank you for taking the time to read my son's story.
