August 21, 2008 is a date that my sister will never forget and that changed her life forever. I remember like it was yesteday... I came home from work and I received a phone call from Amy that late August evening. She was crying and advised me that her husband never came home from work. Of course...As a wife you are thinking the absolute worst scenario; well....At least Amy thought she was thinking the worst...
Let me bring you back to that evening. After receiving Amy's phone call and knowing I was 2,400 miles away in Miami...I knew I couldn't drive to her house. So, I thought of the only option I knew. I must find out why her husband has not returned home. I picked up my phone and dialed the local county sheriffs department; where Amy resides. I explained to the Lieutenant who I was and what I was facing. He was kind enough to connect me to their dispatch.
I spoke with dispatch, gave him my brother in laws license plate number and vehicle description. In my head...I was praying that he wouldn't tell me that the vehicle was involved in a horrible accident.
To my surprise, he came back with information beyond anything we would ever think of. Dispatched advised me that Amy's husband was arrested by the Internet Crimes Bureau.
I then asked for their bureaus number and here we go again....let me call and find out...
I made contact with one of the Detectives and explained once again the reason why I was calling. This is when August 21st, 2008 is so significant. The detective couldn't tell me much due to the pending investigation...but, what I was told... clearly was enough. He advised me that Amy's husband was picked up by the Internet Crimes Bureau for trying to solicit young female minors for sex and went to White Castles in attempt to meet a 15 year old for sex in his vehicle.
I'm sure anyone could imagine my shocked reaction to this and how do I call my sister back and tell her this?!??! Well...I did. I remember hearing the phone dropping and a cry that I will never forget.
So now lets fast forward to 2014. Amy's husband was found GUILTY in 2009 and spent a couple years in prison. He solicited tons of children for years and my sister has ALL of these explicit and grotesque chats from the prosecutor that he tried to lure children into sexual acts and picture exchanges. After numerous court dates/trials, fighting the state of Michigan on legislation for years, Amy doing everything in her power to protect her daughter Camryn (now 7 Years Old); from her EX pedophile husband, WINNING these court dates and $80,000 later.....he is STILL trying to appeal and fight Amy for custody of Camryn and/or visitation rights. The reasoning for this? FACT: All because Amy divorced him due to his pedophile criminal record and he has the funds from a family member to continue the appeals knowing Amy is running short.
My sister won't give up the fight for Camryn. In fact...I don't know a mother that would. She still has a $25,000 balance with her family court attorney and now her appellate attorney (requiring THOUSANDS more) must be paid or she will withdraw. If this happens...WE will lose the battle in fighting for Camryn. Simply all because of MONEY. I can't imagine Camryn becoming a victim of a pedophile...all because of money. It's been too long of a fight and battle to let this happen. The Judge in trial court already ruled that he should NEVER have ANY visits/custody for MANY reasons (too many to list...the judges response was 33 pages)...my niece doesn't even remember this man. She hasn't seen him since she was 20 months old. She now has a man that took the role of her father and who she is proud to call daddy...which leads into the next topic.
Here is another monkey wrench thrown into the mix....My sister recently re-married to a wonderful man and they had a beautiful daughter together on January 28, 2014. During labor, Caisyn experienced birth trauma. After ultrasounds, cat scans, and visits by many pediatric specialists, she was officially diagnosed with a Calcified Cephalohematoma. Due to this...baby Caisyn, only 13lbs is required to have major surgery at U of M Mott's Children Hospital on June 11th, 2014. She will have a large incision made on her skull to get this removed.
After surgery...Caisyn will be kept in ICU, while her swelling goes down. Amy and Kevin will be staying with Caisyn every step of the way during her long 12 week healing process. Due to this...they will be having to take UNPAID leave from work, but must continue to pay the expensive insurance premium.
So I ask of you....PLEASE take it within your hearts to help these two little girls out. Camryn needs help to continue the fight of being a victim of a pedophile and Caisyn needs help in order to pay for her insurance and medical bills in order to have a proper healing.
Children are the worlds most innocent creatures and two beautiful little girls need your help today. If money isn't an option for you...We ask of you to join us in prayer everyday, in hopes that God will guide the right path for these two beautiful little girls.
