Fundraising for Breast Cancer Now

Dear friends and family,

If there's one thing you know about me, it's that I hate running. However, when it comes to supporting a cause as vital as this, I have decided to make an exception.

On May 11th, I've committed to running the Battersea half marathon to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Now.

Breast Cancer Now is a charity, combining the power of research and care to support those living with or beyond the disease.

With dedicated researchers stationed in laboratories across the UK and Ireland, Breast Cancer Now is researching how to tackle secondary breast cancer, develop better treatments, prevent and diagnose breast cancer early, and improve people’s quality of life. They are dedicated to rewriting the narrative of this Breast Cancer, striving towards a future where the mere mention of "breast cancer" no longer evokes fear.

But beyond their research labs, they are also providing solace and support to the 600,000+ individuals living with or beyond breast cancer in the present moment. With their helpline, health information resources, and comprehensive support services, they stand by those affected every step of the way.

Their mission is that by 2050 everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live - and be supported to live well. However, achieving this mission requires collective action now.

I will be running not only for the countless strangers who have battled or are currently battling with breast cancer but also for those close to my heart. For my favourite teacher who guided me through a new culture when I was 5 and had recently moved, for my best friend’s mother who embodies strength in adversity, for my colleagues who inspire me daily, and for all those bravely facing their own battles.
