Supporting Global Change: Maine Bound

Donation protected
Hi Friends and Family ~

I am headed to Maine for 4 months, like I’m fresh outa college with no kids. But as you well know I’m fast approaching fifty, the kids are grown and I'm following a passion.

Is your curiosity peeked as to why I’m headed to Maine? Well let me take you back 18 months. I kept co-inciding with bees, like in Honey Bees, ya know.

I felt inspired to read about bees, had close encounters with bees, learned that honey bees aerodynamically shouldn’t be able to fly, that bees are dying in record numbers, etc. Because of these continual close encounters when a post by the Beehive Design Collective crossed my Facebook page, I felt compelled to go check them out and this is where goin’ to Maine comes into play.

The Beehive Design Collective is a wildly-motivated, all volunteer, activist-art collective dedicated to “cross-pollinating the grassroots” by creating collaborative, anti-copyright images for use as educational and organizing tools. They work anonymously as word-to-image translators of complex global stories, gathered and shared through first hand conversations with affected communities. They do this type of work all over the world, including Mexico and South America. In short, they use art to change the world for the better.

The Beehive Design Collective is based in Machias, Maine and I will live there for 4 months (beginning on June 1st) volunteering as a SUMMER BUILDING RESTORATION COORDINATOR. Basically what that means is I’ll be:
• organizing the team
• coordinating the volunteers
• supporting the local building restoration efforts

In order for me to lend my time and talents to the Beehive Collective they will pay my room and board. Cool, huh?

I will still need a few bucks for airfare, dinner out once in a while, a taxi cab here and there, and other incidentals.

I am calling on my community of friends to support my efforts. If you would like to support my "not so mid-life crisis" no matter how big or small click the DONATE button above to help me get to my goal.

If not, follow me on Facebook, as I'll be posting tons of pics during my time in Maine.

I'm turning 50 WhooHoo!!!

Thanks and Love You,
Pam
