Dominican Chiropractic Outreach

(Photo above from the 2017 trip) I am currently in my fourth and final year as a chiropractic intern at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, Canada. I am one of 11 lucky interns who have been selected to travel to the Dominican Republic from April 3rd to April 14th to participate in a chiropractic treatment outreach.
This outreach abroad is an opportunity for me to participate in an international learning experience and provide chiropractic care to people in need in a developing nation. It gives me a chance to apply my diagnostic and treatment skills that I have been developing over the past four years at CMCC to a variety of patients and conditions. Most patients receive little to no medical care outside of their interaction with us on this trip. The patient’s are incredible grateful, with long lineups to obtain the care. The photo attached is of the outstanding group that attended the 2017 trip.
I am so honoured to be able to bring my passion for chiropractic and health care to the people of the Dominican Republic. I hope to gain tremendous insight on the profession whilst bettering the lives (if only for a short period of time) of the native Dominican families.
Four years of chiropractic education and five years of undergraduate education have not been easy on my wallet. I'm looking for a little bit of help to subsidize part of the cost of my trip, as the majority of it is coming from what is left of my line of credit :)
The breakdown of my personal costs for the trip are as follows:
- Flight/accommodation/food/insurance/donation to Dr. Lopez's clinic: $1730
- Medication and immunizations: $315
- Supplies: $85
- Medical Scrubs: $55
I appreciate your help in allowing me to realize some of my dreams.
