Help Big & Bj while at UVA

Big (Nickie) is my grandfather and Bj (Barbara Jean) is my grandmother (I am Debbie's daughter). Much like many of you, I grew up in the skating rink. My cousins and I knew the Plaza Roller Rink as a second home. I know there are hundreds of people out there that Big and Bj taught skating lessons to, coached, traveled with, and became part of our family too!
Unfortuantely PopPop (as I call him) or Big to many of you has fallen very ill. The man who still gets on his skates and runs the rink has shocked us all and gotten sick. This all started about 4 weeks ago when he took a tumble off a step ladder and fractured a couple of ribs. Then about 2 weeks ago he developed a respiratory infection, which never got better. He was at a doctors appointment and discovered his heart didn't sound "just right." PopPop followed up with the cardiologist on Friday and was admitted to Riverside with double pneunomia and an unknown heart issue. By Saturday things got worse, they discovered he had almost complete blockage in his aortic valve and a stint and balloon pump would have to be put in immediatlety. All the family gathered and prayed! He made it through, with one more surgery to go. He was air lifted from Riverside on Saturday night to the University of Virginia where the heart valve replacement surgery is suppose to happen. With all the bumps in the road he is still holding strong, and doing well. We hope the next few days continue to improve so he can get this surgery and get back on his skates (in time)!!!
I know what a burden medical expenses, travel expenses, and lodging expensises can be on a family in the time of need. Please help take some of this burden off Bj and Big in their time of need!
