Caiden's Journey: Caiden Allen

Donation protected

On December 31, 2012 a special angel was born to the proud parents of Jevonnte and Whitney and we named him Caiden. We knew that he was going to be a special angel earlier in my pregnancy whenwe were told that Caiden will be born with a heart defect called Truncus Artereosus. This is a heart defect that presents at birth. A child born with just one large blood vessel leading out of the heart instead of two vessels. In addition the two lower chambers of the heart are missing a portion of the wall that divides them. We prepared ourselves for the fight of our lives. Of course we already loved our baby before he was even born. After 2 open heart surgeries we found out that he would need a heart transplant. The doctors at Rady’s Children Hospital did everything they could to get him at an ideal weight and keep the infections down. But, in December of 2013 he was transported from Rady's Children Hospital in San Diego, Ca to UCLA hospital in Los Angeles, Ca. and given another surgery to insert a device called a Berlin which would help his heart pump while he waits for the transplant. At that time we had to basically move to LA  and leave our children Malayah,Amauri,Jae'veyion and Destinee at hm in San Diego to stay with extended family. During the wait there were some setbacks Caiden suffered 2 strokes and also had some fluid and bleeding on the brain. But there were also some major accomplishments as well Caiden gained the weight he needed to be placed on the transplant list and began eating again. We continued to spread the word about a search for a heart on Instagram and Facebook. On Sunday, May 25th, 2014 “Our Champ” received a gift from God and our prayers were answered. A beautiful family reached out to Jevonnte on Instagram an offered their sons heart whom had just made the decision to remove their 3 year old son from life support after a tragic accident. We could never thank them enough and we will forever be grateful. They gave our son a second chance and their precious boy will forever be Caiden's Guardian Angel. They showed everyone that miracles can happen and they will forever be as ONE! We still have a long journey ahead of us. Caiden will continue to need medical attention for the rest of his life, traveling expenses, personals and getting back on our feet is going to be a challenge, but getting the continuous support we have been getting will make things a lot easier. God bless you and thank you in advance for any prayers, donations, or sincere words that you have spoken in Caiden’s name.
