Sophisticated Ladies Trip to Sydney

WHO: The Sophisticated Ladies are a 30-voice female ensemble under the direction of Sylvia V. C. Twine comprised of vocal music majors in grades 9 through 12 from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC. The ensemble performs a repertoire of traditional choral literature and singing styles ranging from the spiritual and musical theatre to classical and jazz. The Ladies have performed in such prestigious venues as the White House, Kennedy Center and the Lincoln Memorial.
WHAT: Help fund the Sophisticated Ladies’ Australian “Boomerang Tour” to study, tour and perform with the Australian Girls’ Choir.
WHERE: The ensemble will visit Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
WHEN: October 2016
WHY: This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. As musical ambassadors, these young singers will experience a cultural exchange that is certain to enlighten and inspire their dreams. Our goal  is to "leave no girl behind" and make it financially possible for all members of the ensemble to travel.
