Building a family with IVF treatment

Donation protected
My husband Charles and I are raising funds to undergo IVF treatment so we can build our own family.  My name is Judi Erongot and I live in Kampala, Uganda, where I have worked for the International Criminal Court (ICC)as a Program Assistant conducting advocacy and outreach trainings in rural communities affected by civil war.  I have been married to my wonderful husband, Charles Erongot, for 14 years.  Charles worked for an non-profit organization called Village Enterprise Fund for 9 years and now works for a social enterprise called Fenix International.

In 2006, I was told I had a fibroid which prevented me from conceiving.  I underwent an operation to remove the fibroid, but was told I could not conceive normally. I was advised to try Intro Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and, with the support of my insurance through my employment ICC, I tried three times from Uganda.  Unfortunately, our first three attempts were unsuccessful so we started saving and paid in full to try two more times.  Like many other families going through IVF, this has significantly affected the family's finances and has contributed to periods of depression.

Further, I have also suffered stigma among people in my Uganda for not being able to have a child. Our relationships with many friends and family members have been affected.

Two years ago, I met up with a friend who went through the IVF treatment in Uganda with us.  After three unsuccessful attempts in Uganda, she went to Bavish Fertility Hospita In India for a fourth IVF treatmet and she had a baby girl!  She has highly recommended and connected us with the team at Bavish Fertility Hospital and we are now raising money for one more IVF attempt.

Though we are in a position to raise money for one air ticket, meals and part of the accommodation expenses, we are not able to cover the IVF Treatment fees of $5,000 and the remaining travel expenses for Charles totallng about $3,000.

To share a bit more about our family, we are currently are raising two children named Genavive and Latisha, nieces of ours who were orphaned when their father passed from a car accident and their mother passed away after a battle with cancer.  For fun, we all like to travel, volunteer in the community and visit game parks.

Any assistance to help us raise these funds for IVF Treatment at Bavish Hospital so we can try to have a child of our own would be greatly appreciated. We will pay this forward to other couples struggling to build a family of their own here in Uganda in the future when we are in a position to do this.
