School trip for Leticia to Greece and Italy
I have a 16 year old foster youth named Leticia, on my caseload at CHOICES, Inc. Leticia has a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Greece and Italy on a school trip for her Fine Arts class next Spring. The trip is $3000 through EFTours, and she worked at Donato's this school year to save money this year rather than running track in, and in order to make her $250 a month payments and has been doing so for several months. Leticia is now employed at Wendy's. Leticica is a Junior in high school and is an A, B student and also works a part-time job. She is also saving for her future and working to save money for a car when she turns 18. As a child in foster care she has not had the easiest life but she has worked hard to get where she is and achieve the accomplishments she has. She very much deserves this trip and it is rare that our kids get these opportunities. Leticia is excited for the opportunity to travel and I would like to help her with it and with any luck pay for the trip for her. Anything raised over the amount of the trip will go for spending money and perhaps a nice new digital camera for her to take with her because she doesn't have a camera. If she chooses she can add any extra to her savings account to help with a car. She plans on attending college in the Fall of 2015 and dreams of attending Ohio State University. Having traveled abroad myself I know what a great experience this is and would hope that others who have been lucky enough to have that experience would help someone who typically wouldn't have this opportunity to be able to have that same experience.
