I was planning on lots of things that I thought might be pretty cool during and after lockdown, such as, painting for money, getting small pt jobs nearby, tutoring for kiddos, as well as possibly starting a podcast.
Then, I was thrown for a loop with the diagnosis of Autoimmune Hepatitis. The treatment of this disease involves meds that make it unhealthy for me to be exposed to any illnesses, much less Covid 19. The meds also make it quite impossible to predict whether or not I will be able to accomplish even the simplest of tasks. Some days I only get to sleep for 2 hours, while others I can't rest enough. Pain medications and sleep meds are not possible anymore, and the meds I take can potentially cause major bone loss and diabetes.
I will be on steroids for at least the next 3 years, with, perhaps, a brief couple of years' break, then back on. This will be the only way to keep my liver from getting too diseased to survive. I am in far better shape than most folks with this illness, and have taken strides in getting healthier.
My unemployment is running out by the end of December. I have rent paid, and loved ones who would never allow me to go hungry. I have family who can help a tiny amount before January. I have 2 resources currently checking in to getting help with SSDI application stuff (am not mentally capable of doing it alone), but, this process takes a bit of time.
While just money is desirable for me to get by, I know that sometimes, people have things lying around they need to get rid of, or trades they desire, or just want to be specific. I know there things I do need, such as a laptop battery, or regular grocery delivery, or help with my suddenlink internet, etc.. If trades or bill pays are things you are interested in, please let me know. I do have some skills I can trade for.
Those who know me well understand how uncomfortable it is to ask for this sort of help. I think of friends and family who are sicker, physically and mentally, than I am, and I wonder if I may be taking money from them. I think of folks who fight every day to protect the rights and lives of others, and I feel small and insignificant. But, I have nowhere else to turn, so here I am. If there is anything I can do in exchange for anything you might offer, please do let me know.
