Dear Family and Friends,
My name is Tkeyah Anderson and I am a student attending college at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. - Gamma Rho Chapter. I am entering my 5th and final year of school and aim to graduate in Spring 2015.
Recently my family has been hit with hardship after hardship with no relief in sight. My freshman year of college I learned that my Dad has been suffering from seizures as well as having pre-cancerous polyps develop in his colon. Though the polyps have been removed the seizures have gotten worse. In November 2013 my Dad experienced his third massive seizure while driving and almost ending his life. Since then he has been temporarily removed from work for a max of 6 months with the Postal Service due to Georgia law. Being the only financial provider in the house, this has taken a massive toll on our financial stability. This past April prior to finals I lost my last living grandparent, my Nana. We used what little funds to travel to New Jersey and attend to her home affairs and funeral.
During the first week of May my Dad was cleared by his doctor and returned to work May 16, 2014. However, he once again suffered medical trauma and now is at risk of being unemployed. The bills have piled up significantly. I currently do not have hot water due to the water heater breaking and no ac/heat due to our system also being broken. I am not sure I can afford to return to school
However, this is the tip of the iceberg. My family is currently in high risk of losing our home. We have been here for over 22 years and close to paying off our home completely. But with the amount of bills and mortgage payments being behind we may not see this home too much longer.
