I am a brain injury survivor. I have 6 Kids all together and a wife. I was in a near fatal Motorcycle accident that left me blind and wheelchair bound. I can not preform any daily functions that "normal" people can. I can drink from a cup with a straw myself and thats it. I have to depend on my wife and CNA's for every other dailey routine. Bathing, Feeding, Dressing, moving me ect. I dont want a sob story though.. I was a high level executive that has lost everything, including my employment. I want to fight and get better. All standard forms of treatment are good for some but not my situation. Through much research my wife, Wendy, Found HBOT- hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. I have recieved 40 treatments so far. and within those treatments my speech and vision improved as well as pain. I can do all the PT in the world, but if my brain isnt healed what good will that do? It is a very costly therapy as it isnt covered under any health insurances. So we paid out of pocket, $5000.00 per month. All of our assests were depleted and now I have actually regressed from not being able to go to this therapy. I need at least another 60 - 80 treatments.
It is a shame, that this natural treatment of Oxygenating the Brain under pressure, is not available to the public at a cost affordable. Tramatic Brain Injuries are the NUMBER one Cause of Death of Adults and Children under the age of 40 in the United States. I not only want to heal myself, but my wife and children are committed to starting our own hyperbaric Center and offer the other alternative medicines that are working for me like acupuncture and Inner -Cranial Chiropractor. My 8 and 9 year old Son and Daughter, Joel and Jesse are writing a book to sell to help me get better. Their Goal is to go around to schools and promote their book as well as promote helmet safety.
Our brains are the only Organ that we cant transplant. There needs to be more awareness in this world as to preventive messures and helmet laws. Its so important. We have only one life on Earth. And mine and my families was FOREVER changed the first time I didnt wear my helmet on my VRod Harley.
I will get better with the help of the Lord and Good people in this world that will help fund my therapies. WE know we will help others get the alternative treatments they need that are in my situation. Any little helps. GO for it, your contribution will be a gift that WILL keep on giving.
