Wonderful Mom- Victim of flawed CPS

Hello All,

My most wonderful and best friend Beth is going through a difficult time. She’s been a fabulous single mother to a young man who’s quite a character. She’s worked hard to provide for him with little to no help from his father who has had very limited custody for several years. Like many of us, she lives check to check and can afford few luxuries and it can be very challenging when unexpected situations develop.

So is the case now. Beth was recently accused of an outlandish allegation by her son’s father which just happened to coincide with a recent filing by her for child support. Her son was taken away in January of this year and she’s not been allowed contact of any nature. The Douglas County CPS had been less than accommodating and will not even give an option for supervised visitations. This is absurd in any case! I wish I could share the charge, but due to the fact that it is an open case I do not want to jeopardize it by publicizing information.

Lawyers are expensive. With the help of family, she’s scraped enough money together to retain a lawyer. However, the battle will apparently be drawn out and in the end very expensive. It is my goal to help her raise enough money to pay the lawyer to push to be able to have contact with her child that she has not seen in months and to afford the cost of future court dates and proceedings. By chance if there is any money left over, I will see that it is donated to Battered Persons Advocacy.
