Help Bonnie beat Chronic Lyme

Donation protected
(update as of today, April 20
Today the journey to the treatment facility in Mexico begins.  Bonnie and her daughter Katie are on their way to Mexico.  As a family we are praying the treatments will give Bonnie back her health, her life before Lyme.   Please,  let's get this campaign to the goal and beyond to help defray some of the costs .
We are extremely grateful for your prayers, kind words and donations.  To those of you have already donated thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Please keep sharing and let's do this for Bonnie!!
As the journey continues Katie will give me updates to post  so you can follow the journey with Bonnie. )

Three years ago, in May of 2015, my sister, Bonnie Nicholson, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister was an active, vibrant woman who walked 5 km every morning, neither smoked, nor drank other than an occasional glass of wine socially, enjoyed traveling, preparing big dinners for her family and friends and singing in her church choir. She was self employed and also did volunteer work. Bonnie was always the first person to lend a hand whenever it was needed, and she is well known for her generosity, kindness and unconditional love.

Overnight and without warning, her life changed. She began having trouble walking, experienced severe weight loss, double vision, extreme tiredness, and a radical personality change.

Bonnie spent the next 4 months at Toronto General Hospital.  She saw a myriad of specialists some who were neurologists, psychologists, oncologists, and many others.

As her symptoms worsened, she became weaker, her speech suffered, and she was unable to walk without the use of a walker, her emotional state also suffered. Bonnie was unable to cook, clean, walk up stairs without assistance, and she required naps morning and afternoon for the extreme exhaustion. Bonnie isn't strong enough and hasn't the balance to be able to even pour herself a glass of water.

Through the process of elimination the doctors made a diagnosis, the diagnosis was not correct. The treatments over the next 6 months resulted in little change in her condition.

Finally, in desperation, we had Bonnie tested at a special clinic in Whitby, ON and the test came back from Germany as positive for Chronic Lyme disease.  Bonnie and the rest of our family were thrilled that now since there was a diagnosis, she would get proper treatment and regain her health.

Sadly, after receiving over $100,000 in treatment, trips to Lyme doctors in Buffalo, oxygen therapy and countless and expensive drugs,(almost all of the aforementioned  were not covered), there has been no improvement.
She now requires care 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Doctors in Ontario refuse to administer antibiotics intravenously, and that is the preferred treatment for Chronic Lyme.
Bonnie has fought long and so hard to beat this horrible disease, but to no avail.

There are treatments at a renowned clinic in Mexico that should help Bonnie to the point where she is able to regain her vision, speech, the ability to walk on her own, and overall become independent again.  Without these treatments Bonnie will get no better.  She will get worse, and eventually succumb to her illness.

The treatments require a lengthy stay, of approximately 6-8 weeks in Mexico, she has been approved, however, there is no coverage for any of the expenses,  which will be approximately $75,000.00 or more.

The clinic has accepted Bonnie and want her to be there for April 20th with treatment starting immediately. The longer  Bonnie waits means the less chance she will get better. Her daughter, Katie will take the time away from work and be with her in Mexico.

In order to defray some of the cost and to raise awareness of this terrible and fast spreading disease, our family is turning to others, friends, family members, anyone whose generosity could assist with the expenses.

Please pray for our Bonnie.

We wish to thank everyone who can share this, or make a donation no matter how small to help our Bonnie.

Please share this by facebook, twitter, or email to anyone you think would like to assist in helping us reach  our initial goal and beyond.
