Ghana Missions Trip

Donation protected
Africa, a continent full of diverse nations, tongues, peoples, wildlife, culture, scenery, but most importantly a continent in need of the person the Lord Jesus Christ.
Hello,
My name is Matthew Wilkerson, and I will be telling you all about our adventures in Ghana, West Africa during this summer of 2015. I am accompanied on this trip by my wonderful sister, Joy Wilkerson, and our friend, Carla Bullington.

First, I would like to say thank you to all of you who will be praying for us as we endeavor to serve Jesus Christ in this way. Many will give financially as the Lord leads them to, and it will be appreciated greatly, but, many will be able to partner with us simply by praying for us. Not only will you be able to share with us in the ministry that we partake in, but will be able to impact the lives of the precious souls of Africa.
Our basis for our trip is found in Scripture in the book of Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Our main goal in going to Ghana is to do exactly that and assist the faithful missionaries that have been and are fulfilling the Great Commission. It is truly a beautiful thing how because of Christ and what He has done for us that a small group like ourselves can go and join with our brothers and sisters in Christ halfway across the world in unity to "teach and preach Jesus Christ" (Acts 5:42) On that note, we will be going to Techiman, Ghana to work with the Stephen Volante family in their many ministries that they have established. If you would take the time to watch their brief video(https://youtu.be/Dmpx1u08LRw) you will be able to see not only their genuine love and care for the African people, but also, their heart in the matter of soul-winning, discipleship, and church planting. I believe that they are truly following the Biblical pattern for true "missions" work. We are excited to be presented with the opportunity to come alongside these Christ-followers and serve with them in such avenues such as schools, vacation Bible schools, camps, and the children's home. As I look on this trip with foresight, I can see the amazing potential that it entails. This trip gives us, as young people, the open door to not only see the NEED of Africa and missions across the world, but also, the HOW of reaching the people and growing them in "grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18)

Well, now that we have our goal out of the way, I kinda need to tell you a little about who we are. Probably be a good idea, huh? Well, here goes. I am going to hand it over to the girls now.

Hi! I'm Joy. I recently graduated from The Crown College of the Bible with a degree in Missions. All of my life, I have dreamed of being a missionary in Africa, and I believe God has put a burden on my heart for the African people. Though unsure of where God would have me serve Him, I am praying that He will use this trip to show me the next step. I am hoping to use the TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) certificate and my Structured Literacy Specialist certificate to teach English somewhere in the world. Wherever I go, and whatever I do, I want Christ to be magnified through me. I say with Paul, "According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:20-21)

Hi! I'm Carla.  I am a senior at The Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee where I am studying Elementary Education. My home is in Columbus, Georgia with my wonderful family. I was saved at a young age and in the past few years God has given me a desire and love for mission work. I am not exactly sure where God will lead me when I am finished with school, but my desire is to be yielded to whatever purpose and plan He has for me. God has given us this opportunity to go to Ghana and we believe it is truly an open door for us to be used as vessels for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hi! I'm back. That is not my name, but ya know, it worked. Ok, the truth is I have some pretty lame jokes. Anyways, my name is Matthew Wilkerson, as I mentioned before, and I also attend the Crown College of the Bible. I  am pursuing a degree in Youth Ministry, will be a Junior this upcoming semester, and am totally thrilled about what God has for me down the road. I have to tell about my story because I just cannot help but tell about what my Lord has done in my life. I was saved at a young age, and was privileged to grow up in a wonderful Christian home. Throughout the years I have worked in the ministry, and for the most part, done "good" all my life. The sad thing is though that I was doing all the right things for all the wrong reasons, and was plagued by the disease that infects many believers today, especially in America, mediocrity. I was a good kid, Hey, I even went to Bible college, but my relationship with my Savior was at perhaps the lowest it had ever been. Through many different cirumstances and with a group of friends late one night, I made a decision to start getting serious about the things of God. I had no idea what that meant at the time, but now, I am so glad that that night, I gave everything, and I mean, everything to Christ my Savior. To put it Biblically, I died. I died to my ambitions, desires, and dreams. The change was drastic, and I literally became a new person, a person led by the Holy Spirit, and have learned so much since that day. The verse that explains me now is, Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." I am more than excited to serve my Savior with everything that I am, and simply allow my body to be a "living sacrifice" in His service. I am thrilled to see what He will do on this trip. I would like to thank all those who have had any part in influencing my life, and also to all those who will give in order to make this major learning experience happen in my life.

We know that the Lord is "able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." (Ephesians 3:20) Thank you for joining with us in this endeavor, and to God be the glory for whatever He chooses to do through us this summer.
