SWBTS Seminary Tuition Costs

Donation protected
PRAYER REQUEST: This is a letter and email I will be sending out to people shortly to ask for tuition assistance. Stefanie and I are praying for contributions in order to help me complete my Masters of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Unfortunately, most available scholarships require a full time status as a graduate student (9 hours). While this was once possible, I am now w...orking 35 hours a week as a hospice chaplain, in addition to serving in a hospital internship. Usually this only allows for one class to be taken. With the blessing of Colin Matthew's arrival in January, of course monies are dispersed in other ways to provide for his well-being. Fortunately, I am close to completing the degree plan soon. Please pray that God provides the means for me to finish school!!!

In 2011, my wife and I faithfully answered the call into full time ministry to serve The Lord. In order to have a schedule conducive to the rigorous requirements frequently demanded from seminary, I walked away from a promising sales job in corporate to take employment at a well-known hardware store making $9 an hour.

However, immediately after beginning the Masters of Divinity program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, God opened an unexpected door. Since April 2012, I have worked as a hospice chaplain, ministering to patients and family members often journeying through the most difficult times in their lives, in regards to death, loss, pain and suffering. In addition, I also serve as a trauma chaplain at JPS in downtown Fort Worth, in order to become nationally board certified through the Association of Professional Conservative Chaplains (APCC is the curriculum based Clinical Pastoral Education module sponsored by the seminary).

Though I once thought The Lord was preparing to appoint me as a lead pastor, I am now confident He has called me to take the Gospel to the frontline in the medical ministry, to assist the dying, the sick, and the broken hearted. One day I also hope to pursue bioethics and stand as a firm voice for preserving God’s Word in issues such as: the fight against abortion, molecular cloning, and end of life contentions.

Nevertheless, with the blessing of our newborn son Colin this past January, tuition costs are increasingly becoming more difficult to afford. I humbly ask for your assistance to help continue the necessary tutelage in becoming a minister of the Lord in the medical arena. I certainly would appreciate any dollar amount you feel led to contribute.
