Renee Hamrick medical expenses

Donation protected
On August 31 2012 my step-daughter Renee Hamrick was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. It is a devastating disease which affects primarily young people. She was 39 when it hit her. Immediately after her diagnosis she was sent by ambulance from Mercy Hospital in Mason City Iowa to Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN. She started having Chemo therapy right away and in June of 2013 (the following year)it was determined that the Chemo wasn't working and she would have to have a bone marrow transplant. A donor search was started and thank God by June 21 a donor was found and she received the transplant. She had to stay in Rochester for 100 days after the transplant. She finally was able to go home, cancer free, to her loving husband and 3 daughters. It was a scary time for all of us. We all hoped that her troubles were behind her but unfortunately she had several setbacks along the way. She was diagnosed with graft-versus-host disease which is a complication of the transplant. She has been in the hospital multiple times with high fever, cellulitis and diabetes. She then was diagnosed with scleroderma. She had to endure light therapy and was prescribed high doses of prednisone which has devastating side effects and caused her to have to give up her job. The graft-versus-host disease caused her skin to tighten and the prednisone wasn't helping so she had to have a procedure called photo phoresis which has been done in Rochester ever month for 2 years. She is also having immune therapy at the Mercy Medical Cancer Center in Mason City. The high dose of prednisone caused her bones and joints to deteriorate so in March she had to have surgery on her shoulder and was told that she had compression fractures in her spine and in a year the other shoulder will need surgery as well. Despite of the horrible pain and uncertainty she has held her chin up and tried to be positive.  Needless to say, the bills are piling up and adding to the stress she has two daughters in college and is finding it impossible to keep up with the payments. She is a very proud person and would rather handle things herself but it's been impossible to keep up with everything and I am asking for help to pay for medical expenses and other household expenses that have mounted up in the past 5 years.  Thank you for the support.
