Abby’s road to recovery

I am one that normally keeps to himself, however I am in great peril and in need of financial assistance. I try my best not to ask for help. Here recently I have been endeavoring on a path that has brought me to think this is my only option and now I am pleading with you to please take the time to just read my words. On March 4, 2020, me and my fiancé gave birth to our most precious gift from God. She is a little over 3 months now and is the light of my world. I’d do anything to keep her safe and secure but, on this day, my most difficult journey began. My fiancé was diagnosed with a rare heart disease known as postpartum cardiomyopathy which would take my beautiful fiancé all she has to fight for her survival. Two weeks after my precious baby was born, I was laid off from my job. They said because they were getting rid of my position entirely. I found this later to be false and they were trying to avoid the FMLA act which allows a father of a newborn baby to take up to 3 months off. Either way I just bit my tongue and tried to keep my head up. Focused on my major problems at hand, which was taking care of my newborn and trying to keep a watchful eye on my fiancé. Two months later she had an MRI done of her organs because she was complaining about stomach pains. The results came back, the doc said they were equivalent to the organs of a 90-year-old lady. She is just 23... Due to the rare disease she has gotten pneumonia 4 times in the last 90 days. Due to the lack of communication between her cardiologist and PA she suffered severe dehydration and was for the 5th time admitted to the hospital on June 9th, 2020. The doctors diagnosed her with severe dehydration due to the water restriction the PA put her on and the water pill the cardiologist put her on. They also first thought she had sepsis, which later we found out was not the case. June 10, I held a conversation with her in her ICU room. It was my birthday. We talked about our daughter, how we can’t wait for Abby to be better so she can play with her, dress her up and help me take care of her. June 11th, she became unresponsive. If you could get her to wake up, she would not talk to you, she would nod and shake her head to answer questions. She would no longer answer her phone, would no longer reply to text messages, and would no longer get on Facebook. This is not the Abby we know and love. She had stopped eating on her own and you would think at that level of unresponsiveness the hospital would no longer bring in food or water to the bedside for her to eat, because she might choke, but they continued anyways. She was then diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure. This is what caused the unresponsiveness. Her kidneys were no longer filtering all chemicals in her body, causing her brain to swell. Then on June 14th around 5:30 pm she asphyxiates on water and her heart stops for 1 minute and 30 seconds. After resuscitation they move her back to ICU and try to get the ventilation tube down her throat, but it’s blocked by her lunch she had at noon that she never swallowed. Her heart then stops once again for 9 more minutes. They get her resuscitated again and this time stable and on life support. June 15th her cardiologist calls and says he has reached his medical wall with her and if we don’t get her to another hospital with a higher level of care she will die in less than 24 hours. She is then flown to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, and they have turned her health a complete 180 degrees in about 12 hours. She is in much better hands now. However, during this time I have been unable to work and even though these series of events have occurred, I feel I have exhausted my families help, and am pleading with you to help me get by at least till she is better and I can really focus on working again. I have been trying to contact unemployment offices but have been unable to do so for 2 months now. During the chaotic situation I got behind on claiming and now the only way to claim is by contacting them, but they are not answering any calls. Update: I was able to contact unemployment and was able to get all funds that where back dated. How ever bills, travel expenses sucked that right up. I fear that if I do not get help, I will lose my car, our only transportation to visit my fiancé who is now a three-hour drive away. I will lose the place we are renting and have been calling home for 7 months now. Not to mention the upcoming after care we will be facing on her road to recovery. Please please help!
