Support Millie's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

Please Help Millie Fight Stage 4 NEUROENDOCRINE TUMORS (NETs) and Carcinoid Tumor Syndrome I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer four years ago on March 5, 2015. I have NET which is a type of cancer that is not well known as other types of cancers. I was on my way to work that morning and had been up all night with horrific stomach pain. I could not concentrate and was bent over and crying. I knew I had to go to the Emergency Room. I was given a CT scan and waited for the doctor to tell me what was going on. They called my family doctor to come and tell me the news that no one wants to hear.…. ”you have CANCER!” I had three surgeries within a month; they removed the primary one attached to my small intestine and took seven inches out along with 24 lymph nodes in my back; removed my right kidney; and seven lymph nodes in my neck. I thought after my surgeries that I would be cancer-free, but the doctor said I will never be cancer-free…we can only slow the process down. I had a bowel obstruction 6 months later and again another surgery. Still fighting and living with pain every day. My cancer has metastasized and has spread to my bones and through my entire body. I pray every day for God to give me the strength to keep fighting and thank him for each day. I feel blessed that God has given me four more years to be with my family and friends. My chemo is a shot called Sandostatin 30 mg. once a month which around $25,000 with all the fees and my pain medications for a month is $9,000 without help. I lost my job after I got out of the hospital a week later and I was immediately approved for Social Security Disability, but had a five-month waiting period…which was the longest five months of my life! My disability check does not cover all of my living expenses and my medical bills will be increasing since I must sign up for Medicare in November. I had a small part-time job, but with Medicare’s requirements, you can not make over a certain amount and get help, that you so desperately need. They say I will be facing more surgeries in the future and of course, that means more medical bills. I am asking if you can help in any way with living and medical expenses. Any donation would be appreciated. This is the hardest letter that I’ve ever had to write. Asking for help isn’t easy. I hope you can find it in your heart to give to my cause. I have a beautiful 27-year-old daughter that just got married last year and thank God I was still here to attend her wedding! Now, I have another goal…. I want to be here to see my first Grandchild! It’s not right now…but I hope in the near future! Hint! Hint! Melissa Thank you all for your love and support! Every donation, no matter how big or small will help! My goal is to raise $25,000 to help with my on-going living and medical expenses and future surgeries. God Bless you and may God keep you healthy and strong! Thanks to all of my dear friends and family for helping me stay strong and positive through this illness….you mean the world to me.
