Shay and Robert Help Fund

Fairbanks resident Robert Johnstone was diagosed on New Year's Eve with Mulitple Melenoma (bone marrow cancer). Robert is Shay McCotter's husband and father of their two children, Bella (age 3)and Brayden (age 1). Robert also has an older daughter Emma. Sadly, Emma's mother was one of the victims who lost her life in the recent January 29th Gergahty Street Apartment fire that occurred in January. Robert has been fighting hard to beat this cancer and has faced several setbacks during this battle including pneumonia and two broken ribs which were the result of the melanoma causing his bones to be extremely fragile. Most recently, he went in to the ER on Mother's Day with pneumonia and the doctors found that his kidneys are failing. He was immediately medevaced to Seattle and is being treated at the University of Washington Hospital. Shay is there with him in Seattle while Robert is receiving care. Shay works full time at Home Depot here in Fairbanks and is missing work to be by Robert's side as he fights for his life. Robert and Shay have always been very hard workers. Shay started working at the age of 16 and has always worked since then. Robert has worked consistently while also going to school for an engineering degree in an effort to attain a job that would allow him to provide for his family. He's only 26 credits away from attaining his engineering degree. Robert also served in the Navy. It is very hard for Shay to ask for help from others as she is used to them being able to provide for themselves. On her behalf, we are asking for any help for their family as Shay is missing work and their bills continue to add up. Please help us support this family as they fight for their husband, father and provider. She left on the medevac with Robert to Seattle with only $200. Even if you can only donate $10, that will help her to buy one of her meals while there.
